D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#40713 i have done a mini with a d15b7 block and a d16z6 head, i got a guy to do the timing the last time and now when i got him to day it today he cant, he must have flooked it the last time.he got it running badly of the timing and he had to push the distrubotor way back for it to spark number 1. he puts the crankshaft pulley at tdc and then puts the 0 degrees mark on the adjustable cam gear to tdc and then it wont line up with sparking on number 1 . so then he turns the cam around 180 degrees so now the 2 marks running along the cylinder head are fine and the 0 degees mark on the cam is about 4 teeth away from the 1 on the plastic guard (7 o clock) then he adjust it in 2 teeth and it fires bad then another 1 and its off the timing complety now, and wont start again, can anyone give me detailed instructions how to do this? i know there should be a half a tooth probem with this swap thats why you need the adjustable cam, but he cant get anywere near been just off half a tooth.
