My oil doesnt reach 140F for awhile even though the car coolant is up to temp already.

u really need 2 let ur car warm up, expecially in mornings i make sure my rpm is at 1 before drivng it and temp shows a lil hot.

my teacher, Gary Sornborger ASE master tech- in these words.

"johnny, no you dont need to let your car sit there until its at normal operating temp, half a minute is good enough"

He gave me a reason why, something about obd1 .. but i completly went blank. ill get back to you guys on it tommorow,

so if you let your car sit there in the mornings for 10 mins, your just waisting gas and suckin up hot air for no reason.

DONT ARGUE WITH (ME) on this one or try to get me to see it diffrently, I would rather much belive a 68 year old guy whos been into auto's since he was 2. also still owns (garys automotive) here in california



*edit* forgot to mention , STOCK motors only haha. if your built or turbo'd grab a torch and light taht shit up lol

- Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:15 am #41039 lol. When my car turns on, maybe 10-20 second later it is moving to the end of the drive way. I don't start beat on it until its worm. Even then only time I wind it up is getting on the freeway, Even then I shift at 5-6k As I am already over the speed limit.

However When I do a Mountain Run, My engine is already warm. I rev it up pretty good there. Nothing crazy though. I dont abuse my engine to much. Even when "Playing" With it. However Every once in a while she will see 7k.
