I hate that term, "torquless wonder". It is so laughable, and the B18 is a torque monster? My boys LS did rape me from stop light to stop light could not touch me on the highway to save his life. So which is better? For a drag race from a dead stop, yes an LS is great....................

to beat nothing but another Honda.

So your saying that he couldn't keep up from rolling start or? :?

#37052 b17's can be a nice cheap stroker for B16's if you can find it for a good price.

B17 basically a
PR3 head, B16 top end
B16 block with B17 flat pistons, B17 rods, B17 crank

obd1, cable tranny

But then again you guys are right, LS blocks are found so cheap now a days.

He is saying that a stock LS only beats his B16a swap from a dead stop. From a roll or a race on the freeway, the VTEC owns!!

I personally can argue this point. My LS beat a GSR and a B16a swapped hatch from digs and from rolls. But then again, I had a GSR tranny.

#41310

My first guess is it sounds like a set of B17 crank/rods/pistons is a nice upgrade for your B16 when you're rebuilding it :)
My second guess is that there are NO aftermarket/performance pistons or rods available, and that the engine components are rare, so expensive.

Just wondering what internal geometry does to reliability when pushing it hard, like boosting it like 10-12psi, a number a normal (well tuned) B16 would handle like it's nothing.

#41384 well right now its tuned so i could not answer that question.. i plan on boosting to around that(10-12) i do not drive the car right now, just dont have the money to put into it.. i did not build the car but i know the guy quite well that did, so it does have stock rods everything else im prety sure is aftermarket.. i didnt buy the car to beat the balls off it, i got it because i got a good deal on it and hell its a turbo car, witha rebuilt motor.. so i plan on taking it back apart and redoning some of it myself.. anyways i like it :D
