first choice d15z1 intake manifold looks like d16z6 dont know the differentce or the intake manifol from the d16a6 crx si setup ??

- Wed Mar 05, 2008 3:29 am #44803 You are going to want to use a z6 or a y8 intake manifold. the a6 or the z1 wont be good enought. If you dont have access to one, get a Skunk2 unit for the z6. That will be much better than all.

what bad about tha a6 or z1 IM they seem the same size the a6 looks bigger im swapping the a6z6 into a civic vx that right now has a d15z1 thats why i will have an extra z1
IM and i bought the d16a1 complete and thats why i have an extra a6 head of those 2 which inless i can find 1 for 204 but then again i need a direct fit , PLEASE LET ME KNOW and if i REALLY CAANT THEN WHY :?

- Wed Mar 05, 2008 8:44 am #44855 if you want to stick to a honda mani, i recommend using the y7. the guy helpin me out tuned just about 430hp outta a d-series with a y7 intake mani. he said it's the best stock flowing intake mani they could find.

- Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:14 pm #44923 use which ever one is closest to the z6. make sure it has the same number of vacuum lines and coolant lines. Also be sure your fuel rail will fit, I know y8's are different than OBD1 IM's, unsure if a6's are different. Check where the throttle cable bracket mounts too. also be sure your IACV and AIT sensors will fit. chances are one of them (probably the a6 since it's OBD1) will be different enough than the z6 IM you should be using to help your decision to pick the one of the two that will work. :thumb:
A6 is bigger & better flowing, but in your case, the smaller z1 intake manifold is probably going to me more compitable for your setup. (not sure if the z1 IM has an EGR valve or not - hopefully not)

ps. I have a spare z6 Intake manifold, wanna work out a trade for that plastic lip?

- Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:22 pm #44925 OK so the z1 is also obd1 right ?? the z1 looks EXACTELY THE SAME as the z6 thats why i was asking but i also heard that the a6 is what people sawp in because it has a bigger throtel body and the holes are bigger,ok so for my swap i have to use the z6 fuel line and injectors or can i use the z1 or a6 ? let me know also how the IM u have sounds like a good trade :? what condition ? whats missing ? but answer the above also as its very important thanks

- Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:45 pm #44929 I thought the z1 IM was smaller, comparable to the dx or lx IM. Or that the runners were shorter than the z6 :? I could be wrong though. Maybe it was a tiny throttle body that the z6 had... I've never seen one off the car in person.

As far as all the fuel components & sensors, I would use everything you can from the z6 (since your head & ecu will be from a D16z6) If something does not fit or you don't have it... then you can try to substitute the z1 parts in its place. remember the z1 is designed for fuel economy, z6 for performance.

I'll PM you pics of the IM.
