#47647 Ok i have been doin some research on what to do to my d15 performance wise and here is what i am planning to do
- d16z6 intake (larger intake ports same throttle body direct bolt on)
- cam (not shure which one yet)
- port and polish the head
- lightweight flywheel and stage 1 clutch
- throtttle body spacer with helix bore
- dc 4-2-1 header
- catback exhaust (not shure which one )
- and a short ram intake
so far this is what ive come up with let me know if anyone knows a good cam and a good exhaust I was thinkin dc but idk and also i was planning for all this to bring me to the 135hp range am I at all accurate on this prediction let me know what everybody thinks.

#47722 sounds good but the y8 intake mani is a lil better from what i have heard.

#47754 I've heard that the y8 has better low & mid power improvement, but that the z6 has best top end power improvement. I wiish there was a dyno test between the two out there somewhere....

#47762 im gonna try to find a comparison somewhere

#47852 Is the y8 a direct bolt on as well

#47993 teal_dx is right. The Z6 was designed more for top end. The Y8 was made to peak lower so that it's better on the street. But as you can see there's only a 2hp difference between them at the peak.

The Y8 manifold works best for the Y8 head, not so good on the Z6 head, and vice versa. I wouldn't try it unless you have some kind of programmable engine management. I tried the Y8 intake manifold and a B18 throttle body on a Z6 and it ran awful. It killed my gas mileage and throttle response, in fact, I couldn't use full throttle until the RPMs had already climbed. I probably could have got it running good if I had the AEM EMS on it at the time, but so many people prefer the Z6 manifold over the Y8, so it's kind of a toss up.

The Y8 manifold itself will bolt right on, but the throttle cable doesn't work with it's throttle bracket / throttle body. You can try a 96 Civic throttle cable (haven't tried it) or a throttle cable bracket from a 85-87 fuel injected CRX (works good when bent with a table vice). You could also take your Z6 throttle bracket and bend it upside down in a table vice; it will get you going temporarily but you wont be able to open the throttle completely. The charcoal canister doesn't work with the Y8 throttle body or purge control valve, so you'll need a OBD2 charcoal canister (slides right in). You'll need to swap over the Z6 injectors but use the Y8 O rings. You'll need some vacuum hose, some vacuum plugs and some vacuum T's. You'll need to relocate your IAT to your intake tube, which requires extending the two wires. And finally, you'll need the PCV valve and hose from a Y8.

The Z6 manifold makes more max hp. Max hp is measured at the peak of course. I thoroughly enjoy my OBD2 D15B over the OBD1 ZC I had in my last hatch. It takes so little throttle to get up to speed.

#57738 so from what i have read , i can run the z6 intake mani on my B7 correct?
yes it bolts right up. You'll notice more of the benefits if it is port matched to the head
