#49514 are you sure it doesnt fit? the DX manual Coupe rack has the same part number as the DX manual hatchback.... maybe just a bad rack?

#49578 The passenger side mount is different on cars that came with manual racks. But you can make it work. Or you can do it properly and swap the subframes.

Having tried both, (a properly deleted power steering retaining the PS rack vs a manual rack), there's not much difference in turning effort if you have aftermarket wheels and/or an aftermarket small diameter steering wheel.

There is no difference between the body styles.

The PS rack has a quicker ratio.

#49616 removing the rack is a bit of work, I would just convert it :thumb:

I didn't get any pics when I did mine, but there's 3 holes. The proper way to convert to manual is to connect the 2 outer holes in a loop and then on the center hole run a line to a fluid reservoir with a breather on top. You don't need to keep the reservoir topped off with fluid. You only need enough fluid in the system to keep the inside of the rack lubricated. Sometimes the fluid level will go up/down as you turn the wheel and that's what the reservoir is for, to hold the fluid if it gets too high so it doesn't gush out through the breather and make a mess in your bay.

There's a company that sells a kit for $70-80 I think, or you can piece together your own for a little bit less.

#49644 well i removed everything dealing with the power steering when i put the motor in but i never looped the rack. now when i hit bumps it makes a god aweful noise becuase there is no fluid im pretty sure its junk by now.... the work to switch the rack doesnt bother me because i plan on doing it when i put my new z6 in but i wasnt sure which one i could use
