#56225 i have a spare d15b7 just sitting around and i was thinking about building a mini-me turbo motor. i was hoping to squeeze 20 psi of boost into it. is this worth building or should i just get a complete d16z6 and build it?

i kinda figured it would throw a rod. wanna buy a b7? lol

#56254 The D16 bottom end is not as strong as the D15 one.
Bore to stroke ratio is much better in the D15, making it a better motor.

20psi on either one is going to 'throw a rod' though... get Vitara pistons and Eagle rods for the D15, and thén put 20psi on 'em.
The Vitara pistons will decrease compression, but the mini-me raises it again, so that's a good thing :)
So throw in a few more dollars, and have a fairly reliable (still a D...) setup making nice numbers (for a D  )

yeah i am definately planning on a full build. nothing stock will hold 20psi. and i was planning on getting a hondata s300 ecu which i believe can save up to 3 boost tunes, so i am getting a tune for 10psi,15psi, and 20psi. then i will still get some kind of gas mileage running 10 for dd. :thumb:

#56354 Nope, I have no experience with the D15B at all.
I do have experience with sohc D16Z2 and dohc D16Z5, the D15B2 and D15B7.
What part of my reply made you think that?

#56384 because you said The D16 bottom end is not as strong as the D15 one.

But if you compare the rods, the D15b7 looks like a pencil. The z6 isnt a whole lot bigger...

#56394 do you plan to sleeve your block, or run a block guard?

from what i've read, right around 10psi the stock sleeves start to "float". (move around) which ends in ka-booom after a while.
