swapped a Z6 into my friends ej gots some problems

- Wed Jul 09, 2008 1:48 am #61340 Well of coarse since i did not start the swap nor know how it ran before (apparently good) out of a running 4dr ex well I have run into a couple fo problems....

When I start the car or go to anyways it tends to be a little forceful in its starting like it will go right away. but then it wont continue to run

Or other times it will continue to run until i hear some sort of sucking noise and then it will automatically just quit right then and there

I have not been able to drive the car and get the car outa my way so i can do other things badly need to do a oil change on all of my cars so I am looking for any suggestions at all. its getting fuel and spark and the only ecu code it throw is 21 vtec solinoid of coarse it throw this code since vtec cannot be hooked up unless i pinned it and I am not doing that right now i just want to get the car running correctly. I bled the coolant and checked all the fluids ......so your guess is as good as mine if not better since im stumped really....

- Wed Jul 09, 2008 3:19 am #61359 If ignition timing or fuel are way off the exhaust will make a big sucking sound and sometimes a backfire when you're trying to start. Only reason I know this is experience tuning a standalone. You can simulate this by cranking it for half a second and letting go (the sucking sound at least).

Exactly hissing noise and it probaly is since i think the vaccum container is broken on his since everything else was .....i dont like people who only do half jobs on things(his friend who helped put the motor in never finished)


So far I had to find all sorts of things even had to find new shift linkage since his was bent from dragging around while he didnt have a motor. not to mention the kid who did it could of just thrown the shift linkage from the 4dr he had right there into it but he said it wouldnt of worked (if i had been there i knew it would of)......


But keep the ideas comming im going to the junkyard tomarrow to pick up a new can and all attatched hoses just for haha's and anything else that can be suggested.

P.s. timing cannot be a issue was pulled from the car that drove there and dropped in the same day nothing was changed never even took the trans off of it.
