- Tue Jul 29, 2008 7:00 am #63742 So out of the blue the other day, i go to start my car and it wont fire. The starter works, fuel pimp kicks in and all that, but it just wont start. its like it isnt getting gas or something. the car sit for a few months before i picked it up/swapped trans and flushed all the fluids. The one thing im worried about is the drive on a close to empty tank to the gas station, where after i put half a tank of gas in, it wouldnt start there. my brother popped the hood and fucked with it somehow and got it to start. i drove it to his house and let it sit for a few hours, started it back up and drove it home for the night. the next morning i go to start it up and it did the same thing it did at the gas station and thats what it is currently doing. Im thinking there might have been some gunk in the bottom of the gas tank that got sucked up and is clogging something. I replaced the fuel filter, and it still wont start. Maybe something with the injectors?

help me out here. im no mechanic, still learning all the stuff, but im stumped.

Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs and wires

- Wed Jul 30, 2008 1:35 am #63830 Crank it for a while and then pull a spark plug and see if you can smell fuel.

Then put the spark plug back in, get another spark plug and put it in the plug wire. Hold the plug up near a bolt on the valve cover or some other engine ground and crank it and see if it sparks.

If that fails to find the problem then I'd check to make sure the ECU is getting power. That is assuming you didn't break your timing belt.

All spark plugs spark
fuel pump works
main relay is fine (no dry solders)
fuel is getting to the fuel injectors
all 3 grounds are connected
there are no blown fuses, (that i know of)

Guys i am really hurting not having my car running. i dont know what else to do...
