#66589 What would you have to do if a rod knocks at a high rpm? i mean obviously a rod is broken but i mean like would i have to send it to a machine shop to be fixed? or just replace it? or does it depend?

#66593 your rod isn't broken or your motor would be in pieces by now. but your bearings are probably on the way out. If you don't know what to do to fix it, I would send it to a shop. Or buy another D series (might be cheaper depending on the amount of work needed)

FOr the work, you're looking at new bearings and probably getting the crank micropolished. Bearings are cheap but the labor is not. The sooner you stop driving it, the better the chance your crank won't get trashed.

If it is a very faint knocking, it could be pinging from pre-detonation, possibly from the timing too advanced.

#66598 A knocking D-series isn't worth much. It wouldb't be a bad buy if you were going to build it on the side yourself. if it is a z6/y8 you're paying for a vtec head at least. But if it's a D15b7/8 or D16y7, don't waste your $$ :thumb:
