isnt the D15b8 pistons 8 valve so if he did do that the pistons would bend a valve? just wondering about that one....

What I would do is find a Z6 swap you can probaly find one from someone who has already done a bseries swap for pretty cheap around here i can get them for 3-400 with everything.

But if you are wanting to spend as less as possible id go to your local junkyard get either a z6 or b7 intake manifold and tb since your intake on the stock cx motor is well tiny as hell. and swap intakes easiest thing you could do....also i would buy a intake for it, headers, and exhaust something like that. just for now that should give you some horses and some fun since your cx is already pretty light

but like i said try and find a full z6 swap thats what i have in my cx and you have quite a bit of power from it to be partially satisfied since it is what it is you will have to do a little work of coarse getting it in there and wiring up vtec but thats about it.

I thought that too until I took one apart. The 8v d15b8 pistons have the reliefs cut so you can put a 16v head on :thumb:

Stopping you from what? i dont wanna do a complete swap just yet... but i could do full exhaust air intake... but could i swap the head as well as the intake manifold? one maybe not Vtec? it doesnt seem like it matters but i heard everytime you hit Vtec it kinda beats up the engine in the long run... and what about running a turbo after swapping the head and manifold? :?
thanks alot for your replies guys... :thumb:

#80211 you could put on a d15b7 head (16 valve - non vtec) + intake mani and use the p06 ecu. But for the effort involved you might as well use D16z6 parts. Vtec is not going to tear up your engine. If you beat the piss out of it and don't keep up on maintenance... that will tear up your engine. I ran a mini-me setup for years and drove it hard - never had a problem.

The d15b7 parts will be cheaper ($50 for the head + IM is a fair price) but it's not really worth the time if more power is your goal. A d15b7 is still pretty slow.

#80237 There's not a whole lot you can do to a 60hp engine with a long geared tranny that's going to make a difference. If you do anything at all, make sure it will transfer over to your new engine when you do a swap. In other words, yes, you can get a cold air intake, header, exhaust for your CX engine and then swap to a Si engine and all that will bolt up. But if you decide to swap to a B series, the header wont work.

Here are two suggestions: 1) swap the transmission for the shorter geared EX/Si trans. 2) turbocharge the engine.

VTEC doesn't hurt anything at all. All you're doing is switching to a third cam lobe that is more aggressive. The three things that kill motors are RPM's, overheating, and lack of/dirty oil.

#80280 i could rip the trans rite out of a stock Si? and would i still swap the head and IM if i were to do that? where could i find a cheap Turbo Kit?

#80281 or would i just run low psi on the stock engine and trans? what im getting from your guys help is...
-do the mini-me swap with the d7 head and IM
-swap the trans for an Si
-bolt on the full exhaust and air intake
javascript:emoticon(':?')
or should i be looking at these seperate? im looking to make it noticebly faster and run it for atleast 2 yers before i look at a swap...
