#80759 I have a B18B in my '93 hatch. No major mods. I changed the heater core last weekend which turned out to be quite the job. Now when driving the car runs strange. I would compare the sound of the engine to a Subaru boxer engine. Slightly more vibration than usual. And no power. When you step on the gas the car is VERY sluggish but sporadically frees up and runs normally for a few seconds, then goes back to being sluggish.

I thought the cat may have collapsed because the symptoms match that but I took it off and that was fine. I also checked vacuum connections and those looked fine. Any ideas?

edit: I made it half way to work last Monday before the problem started. So the car did run ok on Sunday night and Monday for a bit. I'd say a total of 40 miles before the problem started.

#80764 No CEL. Drove it home 20 mins on Monday and a brief ride today in hopes it would fix itself lol but no CEL came up. Just pulled the cap and plugs and everything looks fine.

#80794 I changed the timing belt about 30k ago. But it is another thing I've seen in research. I'm going to check that and the injectors tomorrow.

#81484 Last night I checked the timing and found no problems. So I doubt it's the timing belt. I started pulling wires off plugs 1 by 1 and found no change when I pull wire #4. I pulled the plug and cranked it and the spark is good so I'm assuming it's something with the fuel on cylinder #4. I'm going to pull the rail tonight and check the injectors.

Does anyone know how to clean an injector? Or is it something in which you just buy a new one?

Sounds to me like you're not running on all your 4 pistons.
It can be either an ignition problem. Like your spark plugs, wires or distributor. Or your injectors. When the injectors go bad and stop spraying fuel the piston stops conbusting so you'll be running on only 3 pistons. And that's why it makes the suburu boxer sound and the car starts shaking.

You might want to check your injectors since you already check your spark plugs. Make they are getting power. And if they are getting power make sure they are spraying.

#82458 I pulled the whole fuel rail and took all the injectors out. Cleaned out the rail and the crap off all the injectors and the 'O' rings that they sit in. They were pretty gross. That made the car run a little better. But it turned out to be the wire on cylinder #4. The boot on the plug went bad I guess and the spark was arcing from the connector to the block. Got a new set of wires and it runs mint.
