#80521 I was thinking of buying a high flow cat converter but I am not sure if it will increase hp or not? and if yes by how much? will it be a good add on to my EG? any feedback.

#80958 You'll gain like 2HP MAX, not much. It is a worthwhile mod however, because your cat is old and probably pretty clogged up, causing a decrease in power and fuel economy. Getting a new catalytic converter should help to restore fuel economy and give you a couple more HP.

#80961 As above you'll get 1 horsepower if you're lucky, not worth it as a power mod but certainly a fresh cat will help with everything else

#81131 Waste of money unless you're boosted. In that case, you'd want a larger diameter converter.

I'd call 2hp very optimistic. I don't think you'll see enough of a difference to be conclusive. Horsepower can vary by a couple hp from one pull to the next.

#81338 This is a cat that I was planning to buy http://www.jdmshit.com/RacingCat/
For me it only seems that it will be a straight pipe from the manifold till the silencer.

#81339 OooO... so you not lookin for a catalytic converter for emissions.. you just want to straight pipe it  .. It will make your exhaust sound like ass :thumb: ... but why not? they are pretty cheap and easy to install

#81403 please don't get one of those

they make your exhaust sound like crap (raspy), gain next to no HP over a high-flow cat, and at the same time greatly increase emission of the poisonous gas Carbon Monoxide

EDIT: also, they rust, no matter how much stainless steel the seller "claims" they're made of

How do I know all of this, and that you don't want one? I had one.

Yep, mine's currently got a straight through on it and it sounds like a pile of crap, after I've sorted my head gasket, that's the next thing on my list - to buy a catalyst converter and a decent back box!

#81817 Unless you're running a big turbo and have serious piping running through the whole car a high-flow cat will always be a better choice over a de-cat.

A tuning magazine did a test not so long back and the gains with both were poor, but the high-flow proved the better choice - better 'gain', and obviously better for the environment...

You gain like 1HP over a high-flow cat by using a test pipe. It's not worth the damage it does.
