Opening hood.

- Tue Dec 09, 2008 12:31 pm #82746 Hi. I have problem... My car (Civic EG hatch) battery wire wasn't very good and sometimes it just pop away from the battery leaving car without electric. In that case i usually just pop up the hood and press battery cable down and car is ok again... But now somehow car battery again is disconnected, but car is locked up... so i cant get inside or or open trunk or hood. I can only open car with alarm button but it isn't opening because it don't have electricy... so there is any way how to open hood from outside or how to get door or trunk opened from outside?! Please help! :)
P.S. I cant unlock door with key either, i cannot even get key in.... :(

Could you open up the hatch and climb through the back of the car?

The only way to get your hood open would be to try to go up under the bumper and unbolt the latch assembly from the radiator support. I don't know for sure if you will have access to it though.

- Tue Dec 09, 2008 4:19 pm #82774 This has happen to me b4. So I fegured out a way to do it one morning cus I had too.

What you do is stick your hand through the bumper grill right under where the hoodlatch is. (The hood cable comes from the driver side) so make sure that when you stick your hand through you start feeling on the side for the hood cable. Once you find the hood cable with your hand all you gonna do is pull on it. You gonna have to pull on it pretty hard tho.

That should do the trick and you should be able to open the hood.

And I think its time you changed that terminal. Lol

- Sat Dec 13, 2008 7:11 pm #83512 you can do like the post above said and feel for the cable but insted of pulling on the cable see if you can feel right up to the latch then just feel where the cable goes to the latch and see if you can feel up to the part the cable actually pulls on and try to pull it towards the cable and if you did it right hood should pop.....

not sure if on these cars you can get to the hood latch from under the car but thats what we do at work on most cars. that or try to slim jim the doors to unlock them

- Thu Feb 12, 2009 5:16 pm #96002 or if u havnt' done the hood cable relocation jus go under the fender lining and the cable is rite there give it a tug and ur hood will pop then after realize how easy it was to do and re route it lol
