don't wanna post jack.. but im running the same route here...
I'm thinking about doing the frankenstein LSV. I need some honest opinions on the thing.. reliability, boostability, etc. I've done some reading and im getting alot of mixed reviews.. some places you read its a great motor and others think its trash. I don't want comparisons, suggestions on a different motor or things like that, just some straight talk about an LSV.
I know a couple guys running them, and one guy is making 500 wheel horse with one that is as nearly a daily driver as you can have without it actually being your primary car.. he drives it often, and has for a couple years.
Now for what I was thinking. My LS block and a JDM b16a head. probably stay with stock internals (pistons and rods) but have everything completely torn, cleaned, and rebuilt at a machine shop. Have all moving parts replaced ie bearings, water pump, oil pump, etc. with OEM products except bearings would be ACL bearings and all studs and bolts from ARP.
So thats the idea, LS block, stock rods and pistons, ARP bolts and studs, new bearings, and the head. Then have it professionally put back together. Then I would like to slam between 7 and 12 pounds of boost at it along with a really good tune.
Now its your turn - thoughts? good idea or bad? too much work? a ticking time bomb?
thanks guys n gals.
