- Wed Dec 31, 2008 9:09 pm #86360 So I dont know if ya heard yet but it so happened that fist gen 30 gig zunes around the world all restarted and froze at the load up screen at 12 am pacific time and ive been on zune.net forum to see if they solve the problem still nothing and was wondering if anyone on her had one or am i the only one lol

We were recently alerted to a widespread issue affecting the 2006 model Zune 30. The issue should resolve itself over the next 24 hours.

Owners of Microsoft’s 30GB Zune player will be counting down to midnight tonight - not to ring in a new year but to see if their Zunes will miraculously start working again. Apparently, some sort of glitch prompted the internal clocks in the 30GB (only) Zunes to freak out and lock up the machine because they couldn’t handle the extra day in the leap year. (Techmeme)

Microsoft’s quick solution to the problem: Wait until tomorrow and all will be well again. (Or at least until 2012). Microsoft attempts to answer customer questions in a Q&A but I’ve got to highlight my favorite answer:

Q: What is Zune doing to fix this issue?
The issue should resolve itself.

Translation: We’re not doing anything to fix it, which is probably OK because - knowing Microsoft - it would probably just issue a patch sometime in the second quarter of next year anyway.

Leave it to Microshit to screw up anything and everything! hahaha! RRoD Zune style!! hahaha!:lol:
