#82287 hey i just inherited a 4 door civic from my sister the down side is that it has some minor scuffs. I was wondering if there was a way i could do the repair myself without spending too much and still getting a good quality product in the end.

here are some pics of the scuffs/chips
Image
rear bumper. biggest eye soar.

ruff feeling scuff on the front right corner on the bumper.

the last one ( unfortunately i don't have a good pic of it) is going down the left side of the car. its a small white scuff that is smooth so it didnt dig up the pait realy. I thaught mabey i could wet sand then use touch up paint/ clear coat it. I dont have a paint gun but i would like to know what i could do for the civic.

-apriciate the help in advance

#82301 looks likes your rear bumper has that thing where chunks break off. I'd replace it instead of trying to fix it, if you go to a junkyard it should only be $20-$40, and remember that coupe and sedans share the same rear bumper so you can get either

#82303 I'd go to a basic body shop like Macco and see how much just to repaint your bumpers. They do a whole car for a few hundred so just 2 bumpers off the car should be cheap.

#82307 i herd maco dose some pretty shitty work. herd some horror story's about it. plus i live in canada so i think there is only 1 macco around my area and its kinda far

*EDIT*
i know the back bumper is probabled f**** up. but can i still save the front and side DIY style ?

#82818 ya you can polish the scuffs off. just go to auto zone or some place like that and look at the polishes. find a polishing compond that works for scuffs. it looks like the white might just be paint transfer and you can wipe it off with a lil thinner. as for the rear bumper get a used/new one and go to a local auto paint supplyer and see if they can match the paint and put it in a spray can. cost like 40 bucks. get some sand paper and scuff it up and paint it and then get a spray clear also from the supplier and for like 60-70 bucks its painted. or just have macco do it.

#82866 the rear bumper is dent free. just the paint is chipping. is it cheaper to swap it for a same colour junkyard one or just paint it ?

i would just paint it if it is not physically damaged... if your going to a "pick-a-part" style junkyard then you can try and wait for a same colored bumper. From past experiences Honda dismantler yards would probably have the color but they don't exactly keep it in prestine condition. maybe it's different in canada... :?

rear end was smashed and same with quarter panel, said to have uni-body damaged. Sucks :(

Worse news you can get about your car.
Atleast your getting money back to build another honda.

Most Insurance company's will let you buy back the wrecked car for cheap. If its not to much you can buy it back, strip the car and sell everything thats good on it, Probally making more then it cost you for the car. :thumb:

Thats what i was thinking, was to buy it back from them but they said NO! they said they ressently stopped selling back wrecked cars because of a scandal that recently happened with ICBC ( insurance company) long story.
being that it was my sisters cars "technically" were probably gonna buy her a new civic mabey (ej1, eg8) and im probably gonna save up to buy a prelude.

gosh i loved that car. RIP
