Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#9513 o.k. guys, this is serious. After calculating how much it's gonna cost me to do an engine swap, which is what i wanted, it appears i would have to wait a couple of years to do it. This is not acceptable...lol. So here's the story...

I have until late August/early September to boost my stock civic Esi (D16Z6). It has to be quicker than my Dads V6 Calibra, because quite simply he's doing my nut in. I don't wanna go overkill, a small turbo running low psi to minimise engine rebuilding is really what I want, but I don't know much about Turbos. so any suggestions on what turbo setup to go for would be appreciated.

his 0-60 mph is about 7-7.3 seconds. top speed he claims is 155...I've been with him at 145 and he was still good for a bit more. Any help would be great...cheers

#9515 Top speed 155mph, so 248kph...
I don't think that's possible with all stock gearratios and final drive.

I think you should read up a lot, try www.turbod16.com for instance.

#9581 thanks guys...i've been reading into it a lot and i'm unsure. If something goes wrong, it'd go wrong big time and this is my only mode of transport to uni in August. I may just sell up and buy a Crx Vti (92 plate)

But thanks :thumb:

#9583 Wich can also be boosted :woot:

No serious, I've been reading up for about 18 months now, and I consider myself capable enough to make my own turbokit and install it.
Very important is to read up on general turbo-tech first, only then you can determine what turbo is fit for you.

Lately I've been thinking of going n/a, but going turbo is still 90% sure my thing :)
To much time at hand makes you look at other things, wich is good, find out what is out there and make the choice you won't regret :)

I might be able to help you out with a full D16 turbo engine so you will be able to keep your standard engine intack. :thumb:
Just depends if Guccipoo still wants it.
