#99089 So today as I was running some errands. I got a damn ticket for running a yellow light... How do I run a yellow light?! Well anyway he said "oh i saw the light turn yellow and you speed up". WELL, maybe i was close to the damn light and i couldn't stop in time. GOD, i hate this. :x

Anyways, he said he didn't give me points but since im a lazy ass i really don't want to fight it and get it over with. If I plea guilty would they give me points still even though the cop stated he didn't?

#99185 If its your First ticket, plea guilty with an explanation. youll get off for sure if you tell them you would put yourself in a dangerous position had you decided to slam on the brakes. If its your second of third time. you might as well just pay it and take the points. :2girls1cup:

#99187 Honestly, I'd fight it. Sounds like the cop is just trying to get in his end of the month tickets to reach quota. :x

#99277 Yeah, this is my first ticket ever. Lol, and yes my friend was with me in the passengers side. There was two cops actually. When the one cop was asking for my license and registrations. The other cop tried to open the passengers side door and it was locked so he started knocking on my window (passenger side) hard as hell. Saying "Roll down your fucking window, ROLL DOWN YOUR FUCKING WINDOW". And when my friend rolled down the window. He grabbed my friends hoody which he was holding and started checking it and then he was like why ain't you in school and all that stuff. Mind you, we both are in college.

So then the cop that was harrassing my friend left. Then the guy that pulled me over came up to my window again and gave me my ticket and he was like sorry about this. That was my lieutenant. I wouldn't have given you a ticket if he wasn't around.

Fuuccck. :x

#99279 What exactly does the ticket say? The offense he charged you with might not involve points on your licence, or it may. There's a bunch of different charges they can choose and the consequences vary from charge to charge.

Give us more info, if it's a "light" offense with no points then no problem, but if you're gonna get stuck with points I'd fight it. I'm going to court next Tuesday to try to get out of some points I got charged with on a ticket. Same deal, first offense, haven't committed anymore in the year it's been since then, blah blah blah. It's all about your demeanor, act polite, dress nice, speak professionally. So long as you don't get a dick judge they are usually lenient.

#99290 Yeah, I got a $144 ticket and traffic school for "running a red light" when there was no red light, I turned left and the lead arrow turned from yellow to off (not red). I was in an f350 duelie. of coarse I'm not going to make it through the damn way by the time your light turns green :x

he could have at least said "failed to yield to oncoming traffic"

#99298 If that's his lieutenant then he said that to you, then prolly he is: 1. just trying to beat his quota, 2. his lieutenant told him so, or 3. a rookie cop showing off to his superior..

I know how it feels getting a ticket, specially your first one.. I suggest fight it..

#99309 I would just pay the fine if there's no points involved. It sounds to me like the cop was just snooping around trying to find something to do.

#99315 Yeah, I think I'm going to fight it. I'm going down to the court house tomorrow to reschedule for an earlier date cause I am not paying this D: This is so stupid.. Waste of my time and money.

#100075 I have been able to pay a lawyer anywhere from 200-400 bucks to get me out of all of my speeding tickets. They always use the excuse 'improper equipment', and it works every time.

I've had 5-6 tickets, and never had any points taken from my license. And they were all in my z28 but one as well, which would make it even harder to get out of :o

Speeding tickets though. A ticket for running a "red light" is completely different. Less than 3% of the the red light tickets that are fought are won.
