#148385 grabbed it off a 92 si. had over 300,000K
if i replace it what will happen?
cause my car still runs good when its bumped
or is it not getting the spark from turning over staying still?

please get back to me and i will pull one tomorrow

#148387 yea chances could be that the distributor just isnt creating enough spark under the rotational speed of cranking the engine over. and bumping it forces the issue. i would say a dizzy with over 300k might be the problem.

#148388 so the whole unit or will a new cap and rotor fix it?
User avatar
By Apexracing
#148389 probably the whole unit sense the coil inside is probably on its way out, if the cap and rotor were bad the engine would run rough.

#148604 thank you everyone for the advice!!! :D

went to the yard and pulled off a dizzy went back to put it on and when i looked at my old one the rotor was toast!!

bought a new cap and rotor for mine and it fired right up!!! :D
anyways i took it for a spin runs pretty good

still have a problem though?

when i stomp on it it will still sputter, like its miss-firing

could i have bad timing? or what?
:?

#148605 did you put new plugs and wires on also, now would be a good time to do it. congrats btw, glad it kinda helped.

#148630 havent done that yet but im going to take back the dizzy and buy some plugs today, see how it runs then

if i set it to TDC and get i timing gun and adjust the dizzy to you think i can do the timing?
User avatar
By Apexracing
#148645 if you follow the directions with the timing light i dont see why not.

#148646 alright ill give it a shot.

ever heard of it misfiring or sputtering when i step on the gas?

#148648 could be due to getting flooded out, if the plugs are shot, or if the wires have alot of resistance.
