It also made it sound different it sounded more throaty it was sweet i would do it if i where you. Im also going to do it to my b16a just because i like the yay it sound and performed :thumb: :thumb:

HP gains aren't much if you just leave it at PnP.

the name of the game is air flow. the more air you can get in and out the more power you can make.

compaired to a straw, would you rather suck through a bubble tea straw or a coffee straw?

but just a PnP? thats like sucking through... a coffee straw that bulges to a fat straw in the middle and then back to a coffee straw... kind of pointless if you dont have it at both ends eh?

PnP, header, exhaust, cam, oversized valves, ITBs... oh wait.. why would you be going n/a with a d16z6 anyways...

save your money and boost it.

im just saying some people dont want to follow the boost bandwagon...yea boost is cheaper and going Na could be costly..Not everyone gets lucky to get a well maintained 15-18 yr old engine that you could boost right off the bat...

thinking bout P&P this one, get a manifold and a decat, and cam it in a couple of months, then get my garage to chip an tune it.

oh an no im not doing it myself, i want the engine to run again :D

I kind of wanted to chime in slightly because after talking to a few companies yesterday at Spocom there are some factors that must be taken into consideration regarding a PnP

The first thing is that it will help but it must be done appropriately. The polishing part is where things can get weird. I have seen quite a few people do these high finish polishes in there head but in fact it is doing nothing but hurting the potential ability to make power. In fact, that type of polish keeps fuel from properly atomizing and mixing and allows it to flow on the hug the surfaces rather than to mix with air.

In actuality, a rougher finish will create turbulence on molecules trying to hug the surfaces and bounce them into air molecules giving you a better mixture. So in actuality, a PnP will help out but it has to be done right or it may end up being more detrimental

Head work.

I will try and keep this simple. To many times we engine builders make things to complicated and hard to understand. As a rule of thumb when we port a head, we will build it to flow the most it can with out killing our velocity. (air speed) The trick here is simple. Here is an example. Stock B16A intake port flows appx 235 cfm@28'' . This is at 450'' lift and at that lift the velocity is appx 92-93% of the port. If we increase the flow to say 285cfm@28'' and maintain the 92-93% velocity of the port, then obviously the head will make more Hp. It would be impossible not to make power. On the other hand, if we increase the flow to 285cfm@28'' but loose velocity and it drops down to say 70-75%, then this head in all likely hood will loose power over stock or not make any power difference at all. At best it will loose throttle response and make the same top end power. ( We see this allot and we usually can't fix them.) From our experience it takes appx 2.5cfm in a Honda engine to make 1 Hp. Now there are certain instances where port volume is necessary and so sacrificing velocity is ok, but you really need to know what your doing. Some examples would be full drag race only set ups, when using methanol fuels, big Hp turbo applications or full NOS set ups. Now in saying this keep in mind that these are our opinions and should be taken as that. Opinion. We will build your head for the best possible performance to meet your needs. 70% of all the head work we do is done by CNC or conventional machines.

Polishing is done only on the exhaust side of things, due to what you stated. way to do your homework lol.

hents why if someone is going to do this, PAY someone who knows what they are doing.


If you're going to port a head, you should just save it for your build. Leave the daily the way it is, nice and reliable.

Dumping money into something you're still driving and trying to make ''fun'' and get more power out of, is just taking money away from doing your build. Which will make your build take a very long time
