#212161 Well lets just say at first i was all full non-vtec so im keeping it that way but i was also thinking the best head for me to use would be the d16y7 but now im not so sure....

Yes i dont like the castings on the D15b7/2 and the a6 as it has that stupid moulding for that purch or what every it is....on the p.side near the dizzy kinda like where you would put a vtec solinoid but its rather a stupid non useful thing so i was looking at it today i could probaly cut that down and be happy with it.....

but now the real reason i am haveing a conflict of interests the Y7 cam is well rather small and you there really isnt much but regrinds out there on the market for it....however the d15b7/2 and the d16a6 is pretty much the same casting ive heard you could swap the a6 cam into the d15b2/7 head or seomthgin liek that and well theres a crx si with that engine in my local junk yard and im tempted to either take the head or the cam and some other things but mainly looking at installing the cam into my b2 head or getting an aftermarket cam etc....this head will be going on my z6 block which i am slowly working on so yea just wondering about that....

and i mean right now im a little apprehensive with the spark plug position i like how the y7/y7/z6wtc position is but looking at it now the flow would seam better out of the a6/b2/b7 heads any help would be greatly appreciated

along with any help in choosing the right cam more inf i know is needed but gotta get to work so i will post more info later but for now the answers to the head questions is really what im looking for
Thanks in advance

#212186 d16a6 head is the same as d15b7/2/8, the cams are interchangeable.
y7 cams can be reground bye Colt or Delta.
Also Bisimoto will has cams for y7.

#212239 IIRC a6/b7 is the best flowing non-vtec head. Delta does regrinds for the b7/a6, as does exospeed, and I think bisi has some billet units for that head.

#212269 So im guessing for a turbo itd be best to goet teh best flowing head out of the bunch and i guess since the castings of the d15b7/2/8 and the a6 are the same itd be the most common head to scag and im sure the cheapest....

anyhow would it be best to get the a6 head and go from there?? as i already got a y7 head from my junkyard i can return once i buy the a6 head and just exchange.......anyhow or should i keep the y7 head just grab the a6 cam and go from there im not 100% on what i should do just yet i mean itd be nice to figure this out soon because i ahve a buddy whos willing to do the port and polish and go thru the head etc .....

#212290 id get a b7 head and put the a6 cam in it and turbo away my friend
b7 heads flow pretty well as do the a6 i would stay away from a y7 head they are kinda like z1 heads just not meant for high power or really capible
orrrr
you could get a vtec head and just not run vtec
or i feell like you can put y7 internals from the head in a y8 head not 100% sure put i think i read that on d series a while ago

#212313 Also one of those head (I think it's the b2) is an 8-valve head.

Also I'm reasonably certain that the a6 and b7 heads are the same casting so you could go with either one and get the same characteristics.

#212333 eg8- according to my research the y7 cam is y7 only due to the size of it ........and vtec i just dont think i could do it because itd be the whole vtec solinoid or plate sticking out like a sore thumb in my head and well the cams are a bit much ........

and

AutoXCivic- the b2 head is actually the 88-91 civic/crx 16v head the d15b2 is mainly in those dpfi cars however its the intake manifold that screws over that motor.......its practically a d15b7 when you swap the intake manifold....

from what ive researched the d15b7/b2 has weaker springs than that of the d16a6 so i think ill exchange the y7 head and snag that a6 head this way i can just install the head itself not worry about timing problems as if you installed that cam into a 1.5l head the timing would be off....from what ive researched......

#212625 some usdm d15b8's have eight valves.
should be obvious when you remove the valve cover.
as i stated before:
a6 head/valvetrain = b7 head/valvetrain = b2 head/valvetrain = 16v b8 head/valvetrain

a6 has a different cam

From my Research:
the 92-93 D15b7 used the d15b2 springs/retainers. in late 93 they ran out of the b2 springs and used the d16a6/retainers. So if you have a 94-95 D15b7 then you have the better springs. the 92-93 do not.
