#265252 Hi people, I've recently changed my head gasket on my d16z6.

Had the head skimmed, also changed my throttle body to another standard one as the one I had was sticking, so everytime I tried to accelerate, the pedal wasn't depressing until I gave enough pressure and then it moved. Thus causing my car to jump forward. So that's now sorted. I re-used my map sensor though on the replacement throttle body.

Other than that, the only other things I've changed are the spark plugs to NGK ones, my induction (password JDM/whale penis), new alloy rad, and oil.

I used to use 10-40w oil, I replaced it with 5-35w. I think my engine may be burning it quicker, I've been taking it for a blast to see, as it was sitting for at least 2 months while I was working on it.

Finally, (the very reason why I started this post), when I'm engaging vtec, especially towards the high end of the rpm range, I'm noticing a White/blue mist of smoke, as I change gear, a further, but far more noticeable amount of the same colour smoke appears.

Then once I brake nice and hard for a few seconds, then downshift into gear, and plant my foot again, more obvious amount of this smoke comes out.

Now, normal street driving the engine runs smooth, no smoke at all. Just when I'm going for an adrenaline rush does this smoke occur. However, even under hard driving the engine still feels absolutely fine.

What could this be, the only thing differently I've done is what I've listed above.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

#265346 It was rebuilt about 10k miles ago , all seals, pumps, bearings, piston rings, gaskets were changed. Only thing that hasn't been changed is the OEM crank and pistons.

I've recently had to do my headgasket, the stem seals were not changed then. And I done the head gasket about 300-500miles ago, IF that to be honest.

As far as compression test goes, would a garage be able to do that or is it something I can do myself? Also what do you mean by dry and wet?

Thanks guys.

#265348 Also, just to add, will a compression test confirm that it's either the piston rings OR the valve stem seals?

Thx

#265369 u can do it yourself but you'll need an extra hand.

you'll need a compression test kit similar to this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTO-ENG ... veQ5fTools

and it wont tell u the exact problem of the two, but it will tell u which cylinder your problems coming from.

#265423 they rent compression testers at Advanced Auto Parts here. Maybe check with your local one to see if they do. It is something that any reputable shop should be able to do.

#265571 Thanks for your help people.

I've decided against spending more money on the D, just one thing after another.

Think I'll be switching to a B18C in the upcoming future.

Thanks again!

This smoke you talk about happens to me.. Im sure on my engine it's the rings giving out or my Valve seals since the engine has now close to 160K..
