#77196 I've built one up, but only to improve MPG there's nothing fast about the z1 but adding those things does give it a little extra git up and go

#77210 It's not a good idea. The mods that work great on normal motors don't work so good on this lean-burn, low RPM cruising, low red line, 12 - 16 valve switching motor. The intake manifold, throttle body, and intake pipe are very small diameter so that you get more airflow at very low RPMs. If you throw an aftermarket pipe on there, you actually lose power throughout most of the driving range.

The Z1 is sort of the Type R of miles-per-gallon instead of power. It's been tuned to run at the ragged edge for max fuel economy. If you start changing things up, particularly with parts designed for performance motors, and you start to have problems.

The good news is that there's a growing community of fuel economy freaks that will gladly buy up your VX's stock parts. If you're looking for money to put toward your H22, try posting up your ECU, EGR controller, intake and exhaust manifolds, intake tube, engine and trans on ebay and/or gassavers.org. I got $100 for my ECU and I probably could have got more if I was stingy.

#77231 It's like when I had my Metro. One group was turboing the threebangers and swapping in 1.3 twincam 4 cylinder engines, the other group was doing efi conversions and aero mods to squeeze out every last mpg.
